• Deezer and bunq problems

I'm german resident and early bunq customer, therefor i have all my bunq IBAN beginning with NL instead of DE.

Im trying to use the bunq credit card or even direct debit as payment method for my Deezer subscription but this is constanly being rejected without going into detail. The Deezer support is also no help. I have the feeling that the Deezer payment processor is either blacklisting bunq completely or their fraud protection is way to aggressive. I also should mention that the Mastercard ID check is successfull when i try to use the bunq credit card.
Direct debit from my bunq account is rejected after i enter the IBAN.

PayPal is working but thats not the payment method i want to use.

Does anyone have similar experience? I'm not having ANY issues anywhere at all besides Deezer. Spotify, TIDAL, Apple all are working fine with bunq.

@Milaan#273067 You could open a German bunq sub-account which has a DE IBAN to check if that works?

@thijsoost#273070 That's not so easy as they kinda lock payment changes as soon as one change fails. Their system kinda sucks.

@Milaan#273073 As expect, as soon as i use a DE bunq IBAN it works. Deezer support also told me that a NL IBAN will not work because im from Germany. Classic case of IBAN discrimination. Probably the same check that makes my creditcard fail.

@Milaan#273106 You probably know about it, but just in case: if you have any records of your conversation with Deezer (and even if not) you can collect all the evidence and report it so hopefully something can be done about it at

As for the bunq credit card, their BINs will correspond to the country of your residence regardless of the connected IBAN. If Deezer uses an up-to-date BIN database then they should have no problems identifying your bunq card as German. (It should start with 5115 8003 while Dutch bunqers get them with 5115 8002, different for every EU country.)

            Hi,
I am in exactly the same situation. As an early Bunq user living in France I have a string of NL accounts, one of which is used for all my subscriptions. Recently, the card I used to pay Deezer came to an end and neither payment by my new card nor by direct debit are accepted because of this discrepancy.

What is unusual is that Deezer used to be OK with this, (NL account, FR address), as that's how I have always paid. It may be that Deezer is now using a different account validation system put in place since the last time I updated my subscription.

In any event, I'm not going to create a new account just for Deezer so I guess I'll reluctantly be moving back to Spotify.
