  • Expand the auto save feature (collection of all ideas)

I really love the new auto save feature but there are a couple of things that I would love to see added further down the road. Since there have been a lot of topics about the new savings feature I thought it would be a good idea to bring all ideas together in one topic. Some ideas are my own, others I read from other users and wrote them down here so we have a nice overview.

I will keep updating the first post in this topic with all the features people suggest.

  1. being able to chose from which accounts money is going to be saved from.

  2. „connected“ saving. I have a shared account with my wife for groceries but only if I go out and pay money is going to be saved. But most of the time my wife is doing the shopping so I miss out on all those possibly savings and I have to do it manually. It would be cool if this would work for connected accounts automatically.

  3. allow to set a percentage. What I man by this is not only round up to the next euro or so instead give us the possibility to set a percentage of how much money should be saved. For example 5 % from each payment. If I go and pay 10 euros then 50 cents will be saved. Or buns could combine all options. Like give us the option as it is right now where it rounds up. Give us the possibility to set a percentage. And maybe give us the option to set a specific amount. Like save 50 cents of each payment.

Because right now it’s like this for example: I pay 9.00 € then it will be rounded up to 10 € so 1 € goes I to savings. But if I make a payment 99.99 € only 0.01 € will go towards savings. I don’t like this very much. Because if I make little payments it should save small amounts and if you make bigger payments more money should be saved. Now let’s say I set up 10 % to save from each payment. Then it would be 99 Cents from the 9.99 € payment and 9.99 € from the 99.99 € payment.

Everyone could set it up individually for him/herself.

  1. allow to switch between percentage and actual amount in the account overview. Some people want to be able to see how much money they have saved in the overview. I personally love that the goal is being displayed in percentage but it would be nice if bunq would give us the choice to chose between amount/percent.

  2. and last but not least allow for multiple saving accounts. If I have two kids I wanna save for it would be nice if my savings could be split in half and go automaticallly to both of the savings accounts.

  3. Also it would be a cool idea if you could create a savings account without a goal, because maybe you dont have one yet or just want to save money in general.

  4. It would be a nice addition to be able to select from which type of card transactions money should be saved. For example you can pay online, in shops and withdraw money from ATMs. At the moment all of those three options trigger the auto save feature. It would be nice to be able to say "save only when making transactions in shops".

  5. Enable to possibility the auto save a certain percentage of INCOMING transactions. This would be a very handy feature for business accounts in order to save the money for tax. For example if a business needs to pay 20 % of Tax on each incoming transactions you could enable the auto saving feature to right away save the said amount on a specific account. This way you do not need to do it manually by hand for each and every transactions. It would add a lot of benefits for business accounts.

I would love to hear what you guys think about those ideas. Some of those ideas i collected from the community some are mine. Give me a thumbs up if you would love to see something like this being added in the future.

EDIT: I added Timo. N.'s suggestion with having a savings account with no goal.
I added Koop in Strooms suggestion to be able to choose to save from selected transactions.
I added BBikers suggestions to allow a percentage based auto saving on incoming transactions.

    Hello Tobias 👋,
these are some really really nice ideas :) And I defiantly would love to have a % savings possibility.
I think it would also be nice if you could create a savings account that does not have a goal. This way you could save with the autosave feature and save money but not for a goal, because maybe you don't have one yet or you just want to save money in general.
Having the possibility to create a connected saving accounts would be truly awesome, and I don't quite understand why this was not included in the update to be honest.

Let's wait and see I am sure that bunq will add more and more features over time like they did with 3D Secure for example.

PS: I have edited your post and remove the # since Together supports markdown this made the text bold.

    Have a great day,
    Timo

Heda changed the title to Expand the auto save feature (collection of all ideas).

I was looking for the exclude/include acounts from autosave. That would be nice.

@REDONE#43424 Totally agree. I think to exclude / include accounts from Auto Saving would be the next step, a necessary update of the great Auto Saving feature. A lot of bunqers request it already.

            Great ideas!

I think not only should it be possible to have savings from a joint account be triggered by transactions from all owners, but it should also be possible to create a joint savings account, so that one can save together.

I also would like to see multiple “instances” of auto-save. So I could turn on auto-save for one savings account (and combining the other idea of being able to choose which accounts should be used to auto-save from) and select which accounts I want to save from, and then turn on auto-save for another savings account and do the same.
It would be slightly tricky from a user-experience perspective to handle multiple auto-saves from one account going to different target savings accounts (idea 5), so maybe in an initial implementation one could either just equally split each auto save transaction among all target savings account (with no ability to customise the split), or even not allow multiple auto-saves from the same account initially and add it later. It’d then still be useful to say “auto save from my main personal account to my personal savings account X”, and then “auto save from our shared groceries account to our shared savings account Y”.

Amazing post, I love this auto-save feature and I can see it being improved a lot over time.

I'd like to auto save also from selected card transactions. Like if you pay in a shop.

I’d like to +1 on the part where you can choose accounts to save from

                    @KiS#44177

I added your idae to the main post.

Would really like to be able to share the savings account with my wife, but can seem to?

@Clifton-Green-Lion#46270 You can't, auto save is a personal account and they didn't include the connect option.

                          9 days later

I’d like to auto save on more then 1 goal!

                            4 days later

                            Great ideas!
I would additionally like to see the possibility of changing regular accounts into saving ones, and maybe back as well. Just in case you change your mind, and would like to designate an existing account just for savings or vice versa.

I would like to be able to have multiple saving going at the same time for the same payment. For example if I pay 9,50€ I would like to put 2% (0,19€) into each of my children’s savings accounts as well as rounding up the amount to the next full euro (0,50€) for the next holiday or something.

                                I’ve already mentioned it elsewhere but one more time can’t hurt;

I am much in favor of the “include/exclude account” option!

                                  19 days later

Auto save by percent is most important on business accounts. You can set for example from incoming Transaktion 30% for the tax. But nothing for outgoing.

@Heda#42519 +1 on the improvements, especially to make it work with joint accounts as a joint saving goal. On the other side, I suggest to keep it simple, so I’m all in also for setting a % but I would rather keep out the option of selecting card type transactions.

@BBiker#53766 added your idea to the main post. Think this is a great suggestion and it would make the auto saving feature even better. Lets keep upvoting this topic so bunq sees that we really love the auto saving feature and give us even more control over it.
