  • Google Pay in Austria🇦🇹

Hi bunqers 👋

We have already escalated this to our respective team so they can work on the matter. Please bear in mind it's up to a mutual understanding between us and Google Pay, so we can add Austria as allowed country. We will push this as much as possible from our side, but it's also dependant on Google's cooperation. Once we have more information we'll make sure to post it in Together 🌈

Both your understanding and patience are much appreciated!

Enjoy your day now 🙌

    Any news on supporting Google Pay in Austria?

    Google says it is up to Bunq. Bunq says it is a mutual agreement between Google and Bunq.

    The Tap & Pay feature is deactivated and tells you to use Google Pay. Whichs is not supported yet, so there is absolutely no way to use your Android Smartphone for Bunq in Austria at the moment, which is really sad for such an innovative bank.

      This is not what you’re asking, but you could use Curve with Google Pay to charge indirectly to Bunq.

      Not a replacement, but maybe a workable workaround until Bunq addresses this.

        @Gerhard-Yellow-Frog#221327 Hallo gerhard,
        Ik ben een nieuwe bunq gebruiker (denk ik) en loop muurvast bij het instellen van mijn bunq card icm Samsung pay,
        Dit is ook de hoofd reden voor het gebruik van bunq.

        Zoek wat aansluiting hier om het eea te realiseren.

        Thnx alvast.

          @JoorsBunq#222029 bunq supports the mobile payment solutions Apple Pay, Google Pay and FitBit Pay. If your Samsung device works with Google Pay, you can set up your bunq cards there. But there‘s no support for Samsung Pay.

            Rein interessehalber, wie ist denn der aktuelle Stand der Dinge in Österreich? Funktioniert GPay mittlerweile via bunq?
            Und zum Post von Peter:
            Samsung und das mobile bezahlen in Europa. Eine neverending Story. Keine Ahnung warum Samsung das so gut wie nicht hinbekommt. Ich hatte 2 1/2 Jahre eine Galaxy Watch (Nutzlosestes Produkt ever), da Samsung bereits damals groß angekündigt hatte das Samsung Pay bald auch nach Deutschland kommt.
            Stand heute ist es auch immer noch nur eine solala Lösung, bei der man erst irgendwo irgendwelche Konten eröffnen muss…
            But, who cares. Hier im Hause ist seit über einem Jahr alles Apple. ;)

              @Flo1979#222038 Es ist seltsam, dass sich seitens bunq nichts tut. Seit ohne jegliche Information Tap & Pay deaktiviert wurde ist mobiles Zahlen mit bunq in Österreich auf Android nur über den Umweg Curve Mastercard und Google Pay möglich. In anderen Ländern geht es direkt.

                @DanielL#222039 Also tatsächlich nichts neues? Sehr irritierend. Da Google ja eigentlich keine besonders hohen Ansprüche hat, müsste das ganze doch eigentlich gut umsetzbar sein.

                  @Flo1979#222040 Yep, nothing new. Although Google Pay is available in Austria since the same date as in the Netherlands and Portugal...

                    @Nikoleta#218264 Any update on this? Since the launch of G Pay in Austria we got 2 more banks supporting it but still no bunq, though you were the first ones in Portugal and NL for example.

                      Hi @Nikoleta#218264,

                      Do you have any news regarding Google Pay in Austria?
                      It is exactly one year ago, since Google Pay started officially in ten new countries, including the Netherlands, Portugal and Austria (1). Bunq started the support for Google Pay at the same day in the Netherlands and Portugal (2), but still not in Austria, although, many fintechs have done this in all three countries, like N26 (3), Revolut (4) and many others (5).
                      My question is: Why doesn't support bunq Google Pay in Austria? They support it in other countries, so it cannot be a technical problem. There are many fintechs and banks supporting Google Pay in Austria, so it cannot be an exclusive deal. So what ist the real reason behind it?

                      P.S.: Obviously, this is a highly requested feature. Except for plenty comments in different threads, there are already four threads, which have only Google Pay in Austria as topic (6, 7, 8, 9).

                        @der13teFreitag#232496 Hi there 👋

                        We've been working on this for quite a while, yes! I will check the matter further with the relevant team and will let you know once there's an update 👍

                          @Nikoleta#232524 Thank you very much!
