(RED) was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2006 to engage millions of people in the greatest challenge of our time – the fight to end AIDS in Africa where 2/3 of the world’s estimated 38 million people with HIV/AIDS live. We work with the world’s most iconic brands and organizations to develop (RED)-branded products and services, that when purchased, trigger corporate giving to the Global Fund. (PRODUCT)RED is often represented by famous brands (such as Apple and Starbucks) as well as an American bank.
As bunq already invented the GreenCard, why not adding another card type which supports a whole new area of charitable projects?
bunq and especially the account holders could help alongside with other companies to fight against HIV/AIDS and the health system in Africa.
Therefore we could provide:
- A new red-coloured card (regular and / or travel)
- A voluntary function to contribute to (PRODUCT)RED
- A small percentage of the transaction and / or payment is donated to the funds
- EITHER an implementation of this project into a bunq premium subscription OR a whole new subscription plan for the account holder

In my opinion the biggest advantage of this idea is of course that bunq supports a charitable project. Nevertheless the bank itself profits from a cooperation with (PRODUCT)RED: bunq as a company grows in notoriety and the public image of the general aim is improved. Nevertheless bunq is a company which needs to make profit, we could expect some new account openings too as bunq would be the first European bank to join the (PRODUCT)RED family. Therefore we offer an exclusive opportunity for account holders to start easy banking AND support an international charitable project; especially for a reasonable price.

As it turns put (PRODUCT)RED does not state at which price a membership / cooperation is based. That is why I am throwing in this idea without providing any specific information about how this cooperation would impact the profit of bunq as a company. Moreover I cannot say how much bunq would need to donate to (PRODUCT)RED and therefore I was not sure if this project ist realistic at all.
Nevertheless I am very sure that bunq could be the first bank which offers a new (PRODUCT)RED card and supports another great project for the public.
This is why I think we could do our best and contribute to fight AIDS/HIV and other diseases together and alongside (PRODUCT)RED.
