• Bank guarantee/ Rent deposit

Liebes bunq-Team,

Vielen Dank!!!

Dear bunq team,

In Germany, banks fulfill an essential function in the relationship between tenants and landlords.

If I want to rent an apartment, it happens very often that the landlord does not want to have a deposit in cash, but instead in form

1.) a bank guarantee on the deposit or

2.) a power of attorney over a rent deposit account to be set up by the tenant.

How can bunq support me?

Beste bunq-team,

Hi Gunnar! Thanks for your topic!

At bunq, we can't currently provide a bank guarantee on that deposit. Of course, you can pay your deposit from a bunq account, which is covered by the deposit guarantee scheme :)

Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you!

      Hi Marc

      Thanks for your reply.

As I tried to explain, this topic is pretty serious for German bunq-Customers.

And without that service, 50% of German landlords will not be willing to give you a rent contract.

I can not confirm the priority of you feature request. For me, I have been renting with 5 different landlords during the last few years, and none of them required a bank guarantee. Just transfer your rent deposit via a normal SEPA transfer, for me it was accepted every time.

Also, normally the landlord already has a deposit account, so you as a tenant do not have to create any type of "special" bank account.
