The design becomes a problem if people get „offended“ by it. You can’t change all people’s minds and you can’t change other countries culture. Just look at Nike for example. They designed a shoe that offended Muslims all over the world. What did Nike do? They said „screw you Muslims it’s your problem if you get offended by it“. Right? Oops sorry it was the other way around. Muslims were angry and Nike apologized and discontinued that design. That’s what every sane person would do. But you would suggest that Nike was right and shouldn’t have listened to the Muslims instead Muslims should stop and change right?

Companies should deliver good products and try to stay out of politics. Same goes for banks. If you want a rainbow card it’s fine. But you can’t force everyone to think the same way you do.

@Gaston#113876 You seem to get something wrong here. No one is complaining that we the bunq users have a problem with the rainbow card. The problem is that other people might get offended. And if someone gets punched in the face because he used/showed his bunq card ... if you need to think twice before using your rainbow card then you have to agree that something is going the wrong direction. I don’t mind the rainbow card but I think twice if I use that card when being in Russia for obvious reasons.

Just give people a choice to have different colors. Give them single colored cards with all of the bunq colors. I personally don’t care of bunq will give us this option but as you can see from this topic there are people that want it. Like I said banks shouldn’t make politics. So best is to stay out of something like this before you further damage your brand.

Before this topic was started I didn’t even think about the card design being a problem. But like I said in my other post now when thinking about some reactions I got when paying with my card they appear in a different light.

I don't really agree on that. There are some countries where cards like these aren't that accepted, it's just something bunq has to deal with (I don't know how they're going to do that). You can't just go to North Korea and hand them flyers about Elon Musk's space missions, eventhough nothing is wrong with that. If bunq wants that people use their card world wide all over the globe they need to keep these things in mind. At the end it's the choice of bunq, I will not be mad whatever they choose, but I don't wanna take the risk and use this card where it can be dangerous just to make a statement.

I'm only not 100% behind that quote, yes for us in the time and society we live in that would be the wrong direction, but in the end we cannot go to someone else's country and tell them that they have to face the fact that we want rainbow colors everywhere 😜

@Nielsb#112913 Aber was passiert ist, ist eben auch die Realität. Für viele arabische Länder würde ich mir ein anderes Kartendesign wünschen. Die Botschaft der Liebe kann ich nicht verbreiten, wenn ich umgebracht werde. Wir müssen uns der Welt stellen wie sie ist und sie ist nicht überall Regenbogen. Mir tut es wirklich leid was geschah. Aber es gibt auch andere Kulturen als die westlichen und da gelten andere Werte.

I hadn't even associated the card with LGBT. I just thought it was a nice and colourful card, and not as bland as all the other bank cards. Idiotic how some people get so brainwashed that they get triggered at seeing a rainbow.

@Ramon-Purple-Bear#114476 And it's not even a rainbow.. missing violet and doesn't follow the same pattern. It even has dark colors which a rainbow obviously doesn't have given the fact it is made of light.

I really don't understand the confusion, they are so not alike.

@Xander#114923 Even the order in which the colors appear is not like a rainbow. First I didn't even associate it with the LGBTQ flag. However there should definitely be a different card design especially with all this controversy. You should not feel uncomfortable when paying with your card. I really like bunq and also the ideology behind all of it and I am happily paying for it. However I also want to feel safe when traveling in certain countries.
