  • Accounts in other currency?

Hey everyone 👋
We received multiple comments and topics about this wish, so I wanted to push it back to the top.
If you like this idea about bunq accounts in multiple currencies too, feel free to leave a high-five and comment, 👍

Jan Brodda changed the title to Account in USD / other currency.

I would love a (or any) reason not to also have to use Revolut. Bunqing in £€$ (and the associated market-rate exchange, mark-up/fee-free payment services, etc) would be wonderful, but, I fear, not quite on the agenda anytime soon...

@James-Blue-Cheetah#29282 I think Multi Currency never will be available at Bunq.
So i will Chance my Bunq Account from Premium to free, and change to Revolut.
To Pay with the card in non-Euro-Countries is to expensive for me.

@Andreas-Azure-Cheetah#29470 The bunq package is sooooo Euro-centric. It would be exciting if they properly moved into the UK market, for a start. It just doesn't sound like there's the ambition to do so right now........ For UK residents, the Premium package is almost redundant, so bunq probably faces a chicken and egg situation, where it won't get revenue for UK residents until it has expanded it UK services, but there are very high costs to make that move

            Hi John👋

I personally think with the current insecurities from the upcoming/ongoing Brexit, moving into UK right now isn't in consideration. Once things settle down and there will be clear rules/laws/treaties and a stable government things might get interesting again for any company looking to expand into the UK.

@Tim#32805 In the meantime, I don't imagine bunq is getting much takeup of its premium offering in the UK!

Multiple currencies would be a great feature and would definitely make Bunq my primary day to day banking partner

Please do. At least having a USD account would be great!

I would like a separate iban number for my GBP account.
To pay and receive payments in GBP

Shouldn’t be that difficult for a cyberbank like Bunq!!!

@id4Sports-Golden-Wolf#43263 You can only receive money in Euro, as far as I know. So if someone has USD they need to use something like transferwise to conevrt to Euro to pay to you. Just like bunq uses transferwise if you make a payment in USD to them.

If you want you can create a new account for your "foreign" payments, but it will be a Euro account and not a GBP account.

When we can expect a possible USD account?

@Pieter-Aquamarine-Wolf#55793 Bunq doesn't tell anything about the things they are developing. But since they recently built TransferWise into their app to send money in a foreign currency I don't believe it will be here anytime soon.

@Pieter-Aquamarine-Wolf#55793 I think this will not happen in the near Future. It‘s not necessary for a eu Bank and i don’t see any needs for an us Account.

I see tons of reasons to have multiple currency IBAN’s. :) Especially for business use, but for personal use as well. It’d be nice if Bunq gets them, but I don’t expect they will create them. Shame, would actually be quite the opportunity to work together more with TransferWise so you can, for example, buy USD for your USD-acccount instantly; or convert a part of your USD-account back to EUR.

There’s loads of potential and convenience in multi-currency IBAN’s.

I think it would be awesome to have a feature of foreign currency accounts. Especially in US dollars. I’m planning a trip to Los Angeles (my home town). And it would be pretty cool to buy dollars when the exchange rates are favorable and to know the dollars are safe and tucked away in my account. And now imagine, when you’re in as in my case LA and you’re out shopping around and your dollars account is linked to your MasterCard. WOW!!! Is this even possible? Or am/are I/we just dreaming? Talk about the bank of the free?!?!

@Robert-Silver-Turtle-4265395482#59293 Could be possible with deeper transferwise integration as transferwise also issued a debit card.

@jho#59295 Why isn’t it being implemented then? Is it a cost factor? Is it a deeper technical problem we don’t understand? Or are there legal hurdles?

                                        @Robert-Silver-Turtle-4265395482#59296
I think it's not very interesting for the most people. If someone is travelling, just pay with the mastercard in the foreign currency... no fees for currency exchange and the real exchange rate.
