As a business owner, your time is valuable, and managing every task yourself can be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve introduced the Employee Access feature - so your employees can handle their own tasks, giving you more time to focus on growing your business.

What is Employee Access?

Employee Access is a type of access to the Business account that directors can grant to employees with a verified Personal account. If an employee doesn’t have a Personal account, the director can invite them to create one, and they’ll need to complete verification first.

Employee Access, managed by the director, includes:

  • Employee card: Easily track and manage employee expenses by giving your team their own Employee Cards. Set spending limits, track receipts, and export detailed reports - all while staying in control.
  • Tap to pay: Turn your phone into a payment terminal and start accepting payments contactlessly with credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

How can I grant access to my employee?

  1. Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
  2. Select your Business account from the top of the screen
  3. Scroll down and select Employee access
  4. Tap on 🔵 Add Employee
  5. Select the employee from your contacts list
  6. Adjust the Employee card preferences as you want
  7. Adjust the Tap to Pay preferences as you want

Note: Employees must have a fully verified Personal account to proceed further. If they don’t already have a bunq account, adding them as an employee will send them an invitation, and they’ll be placed on the bunq Free plan.

How many employees can I add?

The number of employees you can add, depends on your Business account’s plan.

  • bunq Pro Business - up to 3 employees included in your plan
  • bunq Elite Business - up to 10 employees included in your plan

Note 1: Each additional employee will cost €3.49 per month, plus a one-time fee of €9.99 for a physical card.

Note 2: Employees invited for Employee Cards are also eligible for Tap to Pay, and each employee counts as one. For example, if you invite Employee 1 for an Employee Card and Employee 2 for Tap to Pay, it will count as 2 employees. If a single employee uses both an Employee Card and Tap to Pay, it still counts as 1 employee.

How can I accept an invite as an employee?

After you get invited as an employee, you’ll receive an in-app notification. Once you accept the invitation, you’ll be able to review your employee card through your Home tab and use it accordingly.

How to order a physical card as an employee?

  1. Go to 🏠 Home tab
  2. Select your Employee Card
  3. Tap on “Get Physical Card"
  4. Fill in your address details

Note: You will receive your card in the mail within 10 business days. You can also check the estimated delivery date by following the steps mentioned here.

How to block a card as a director?

  1. Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
  2. Sеlect your Business account’s overview
  3. Tap on Employee Access at the bottom of the screen
  4. Choose the employee whose card you want to block
  5. Disable the card’s toggle

How to block a card as an employee?

  1. Go to 🏠 Home tab
  2. Select a card
  3. Tap on ⚙️ Settings
  4. Tap on Block Card
  5. Select 🟧 Block Permanently

How to change card limits as a director?

  1. Go to 👤 Profile
  2. Select your Business account from the top of the screen
  3. Scroll down and select Employee access
  4. Select the employee you want to change the limit of
  5. Tap on Employee card
  6. Tap on ⚙️ Settings
  7. Adjust the card’s limit

How to add receipts as an employee?

Every payment made with your Employee Card must have an attached receipt. If a receipt isn't required for a specific payment, you can simply upload a blank file or a screenshot instead.

  1. Go to 🏠 Home
  2. Tap on your Employee card
  3. Select the payment you want to add a receipt to
  4. Tap Add a Receipt
  5. Select the receipt from your library
  6. Done ✨

How can I export a card statement as a director?

  1. Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
  2. Select your Business account from the top of the screen
  3. Scroll down and select Employee access
  4. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner
  5. Select Export Card Statement
  6. Choose the time period for your statement, select your preferred format (PDF, CSV, or MT940), and decide if you’d like to include the added receipts in the export
  7. Tap on Export Statement

How to remove an employee?

  1. Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
  2. Select your Business account from the top of the screen
  3. Scroll down and select Employee access
  4. Select the employee you want to remove
  5. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner
  6. Tap on Remove Employee
