  • Suggestion to Improve Cooldown Period and Introduce Opt-Out Option

Hello,

I understand and appreciate the need for enhanced security measures, especially in light of recent phishing incidents. However, the current 24-hour cooldown period for transactions is causing significant inconvenience, particularly for time-sensitive payments.

I would like to suggest a few potential improvements to make this process more flexible and user-friendly:

  1. Shorter Cooldown Period: Consider reducing the cooldown period to 3 or 4 hours. This shorter timeframe could still provide a buffer for security checks while minimizing the impact on urgent transactions.

  2. Opt-Out Option: Introduce an option where users can choose to opt out of the cooldown period at their own risk. This could be managed via settings in the app, requiring users to complete a thorough verification process. After opting out, there could be a 48-hour waiting period before instant payments are re-enabled.

  3. Time-Sensitive Transactions: Allow certain transactions to bypass the cooldown period based on urgency. For example, payments to collection agencies or urgent transfers between personal and business accounts within Bunq.

Here is a fictional example to illustrate the impact:

  • User A needs to pay a collection agency by tomorrow to avoid penalties. With the current 24-hour delay, the payment will not be processed in time, causing financial stress.
  • User B transfers funds from their personal account to their new business account to cover an overdraft. The internal transfer is delayed, resulting in the business account remaining in the negative and affecting their ability to use the app.

These changes could greatly improve the user experience while maintaining security. Thank you for considering this feedback.

@bhitter#293627 I have made a similar post with the same issue.

We don't need the cooldowm period, period!

2fa are sufficient for every other kind of transaction on this and every other platform so why not allow a simple 2fa confirmation for this type of transaction if bunqs "suspicions are raised"???

2fa is the gold standard so obviously can be trusted.

And for SEPA payments you're undoing the hard work of European banking and payments industry, payment service users, national governments, the European Commission, the Eurosystem, and several other public authorities efforts in harmonizing cross border payments by getting the transfers down to less than a day.

    Unacceptable put simply.
