  • What does the Travel Insurance cover?

Qover’s Travel Insurance provides coverage for a wide range of situations. However, it's important to note that there are certain scenarios that aren’t covered.

What does the insurance cover?

The Travel Insurance covers the following cases:

  • Emergency medical insurance - emergency situations and other expenses covered up to €2.500.000
  • Emergency repatriation service - covers costs if you need to return to your home country for medical care up to €1.000.000
  • Baggage, Personal Money & Travel Documents - baggage loss or damage, personal money and travel documents loss or theft covered up to €1.000
  • Trip cancellation or curtailment - covers costs if you have to cancel your trip for specified reasons up to €3.000
  • Personal liability - personal liability covered up to €1.000.000
  • Emergency dental treatment - dental emergency treatment up to €200
  • Baggage delay - covers emergency replacement of clothing, medication and toiletries up to €340
  • Delayed departure - covers delayed departure up to €250
  • Car rental excess - covers 100% of your car hire excess up to a maximum limit of €3.000 in case of theft or damage
  • Active sports cover covers medical and liability costs if you get injured while doing one of 59 non-professional sports on your trip up to €1.000.000 (must be amateur level)

What are the exclusions?

  • General

    • Any trip to a country your government advises you not to travel to;
    • Any trip which has started before the activation of your bunq Elite plan;
    • If your trip or rental agreement is longer than the maximum duration, benefits will not apply to any part of that trip;
    • Your family is not covered when traveling independently;
    • Your trip cannot exceed 90 consecutive days and you can travel a maximum 180 travel days in any 12 month period ;
    • Your rental agreement cannot exceed 31 consecutive days;
    • Costs or charges for which any carrier or provider must, has or will reimburse you.
  • Medical:

    • Claims due to a pre-existing medical condition;
    • Dental expenses unless as a result of an illness or injury;
    • Medical and Dental expenses incurred within your country of residence.
  • Personal liability:

    • Liability arising out of the use of vehicles, aircraft, firearms, professional or business;
    • Property belonging to or held in your trust, custody or control (except for holiday accommodation);
    • Damages caused to family members;
    • Baggage, Money, Travel documents;
    • Loss or damage caused by customs or any other authority;
    • Theft when left unattended;
    • Loss, theft or damage to goods borrowed, hired or rented.
  • Cancellation & Curtailment:

    • Death, injury or illness of any pet or animal;
    • Global or national quarantine requirements or restrictions in movement of people including border closures or stay at home restrictions;
    • Minor Illness or Bodily Injury which can be treated locally;
    • Claims arising from normal pregnancy, unless unexpected pregnancy complications.
  • Travel delay:

    • When you do not obtain a written report from the carrier confirming length and reason for the delay;
    • Withdrawal from service of the carrier on the recommendation of the Aviation Authority or a Port;
    • Authority or any similar body in any country;
    • Reimbursement where itemized receipts are not provided.
  • Baggage delay:

    • When you don’t obtain the ‘Property Irregularity Report’;
    • Delay due to confiscation or detention by customs or any other authority.
  • Car Rental Excess Waiver:

    • Mopeds, motorbikes, commercial vehicles, trucks, motor homes, and vehicles not licensed for road;
    • Vehicles being used for reward, motor racing, rallies, speed, endurance tests, or practicing for such events;
    • Driver can’t be under the age of 21;
    • If you or your family as a driver are not named in the rental agreement.

About the Risk Carrier

The benefits are provided by specific Underwriters at Lloyd's Europe, which operates under the freedom of services. Lloyd's Europe is authorized and regulated by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) and is also regulated by the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA).

Needs and Demands

As a bunq bunq Elite user, you'll receive a range of rewards, including complimentary travel insurance. This insurance, administered by Qover and underwritten by Lloyd’s Europe, provides financial protection for medical emergencies, delayed departures, cancellations, and issues with possessions during your travels. This benefit is included in your membership at no extra cost and is paid for by bunq. Please note, if you close your bunq bunq Elite account, your travel insurance benefits will also end.
