Hey bunqers 🌈,
As of April 19, 2024, recipients of SEPA Instant Payments from other banks can receive a recall from the payment sender under certain conditions.
How do I know someone recalled a payment?
You'll receive a push notification about the recall. If you approve the recall request, a new payment event will appear in the app, showing that the funds have been returned to the sender.
Why did I receive a recall request?
A sender may request a recall if they entered the wrong IBAN, transferred the wrong amount, or changed their mind for another reason.
Why am I getting an error when trying to approve a recall?
This may be due to account limits, such as:
- You’ve reached the two monthly withdrawals allowed for Savings Accounts.
- You’ve hit your daily transaction limit.
If you're unable to approve the recall, you can manually transfer the money from another Bank Account or update your daily limit if it’s a payment account.
When can the recipient expect the recalled payment to arrive?
Once bunq approves your instant payment recall, the processing time can range from instantly to up to 2 working days, depending on the other bank involved. If it seems to be taking a bit longer than expected, it might be a good idea to get in touch with the customer service team of the other bank.
Can I recall a payment I sent as a bunq user?
Currently, to recall a payment, you need to contact our Support Center. If you would like this option to be available in the app, feel free to share your idea with us, and we’ll work on making it possible 🚀
When can a payment be recalled?
A recall can be initiated in the case of:
- Duplicate Payments
- Technical Issues
- Fraudulent Payments
- Payments sent to a wrong IBAN
- Wrong amounts transferred by the recipient
- Requests by the recipient (can be recalled only if permission is given by us)
