I've been thoroughly impressed with the ongoing developments in bunq's budgeting features. However, there's one vital enhancement that, if implemented, would significantly boost its utility for myself and, I believe, many others.
Here's the scenario: Often, when dining out with friends, one of us pays the entire bill, and we then use bunq's convenient split feature to share the costs. The issue arises in how these transactions are reflected in my expense tracking. Currently, the full cost of the meal is recorded as my expenditure, even though I am eventually reimbursed for the major portion of it. This results in my financial overview indicating that I've paid for, say, four meals, whereas, in reality, my actual expense is just a quarter of that amount.
This discrepancy leads to a significant distortion in my budgeting overview, rendering it less effective and sometimes even unusable (especially things like spending limits etc).
I propose a modification to the budgeting feature where split transactions are recorded in a manner that reflects the actual expense incurred by the user post-reimbursement. This change would ensure a more accurate and reliable overview of one's expenses.
I'm eager to hear if other users have encountered similar issues and would appreciate this enhancement. Also, any insights or suggestions from the bunq team would be greatly welcomed.
Thank you for considering this suggestion, which I believe could make a great feature even more useful for all of us.
P.S. I am aware that certain incoming payments can be added to a category and it will compensate that amount in the total budget but it doesn't work when using the split feature.
