  • [SUGGESTION] Enhanced Device Insights

In Profile > Cogwheel > Security > Devices, it's possible to see which devices are currently signed into your Bunq account - a very important safety feature.

However, in my opinion, the info there is very minimal. My suggestion would be adding when the device was last actively using Bunq, in what country/area, and the ability to rename.

Let me elaborate!

Renaming a device: On Android, devices can have weird names which are unrecognisable for the end user. For example, my phone is the 'Xiaomi 2201122G', which isn't very helpful when trying to find a bad actor within my devices. Being able to rename the device to something allows people to more easily recognise devices.

Seeing when a device has been last active: Your/an old device might still be in the Devices list! By showing when the device was last active, you stimulate people to remove unused devices. You might even make it red if it has been e.g. 6+ months ago.

Location: This makes the most sense to me. If I - as a Dutch person - see someone signed in from another country, I know something's up.

Below is a picture where I showcase what this section currently looks like in the Android app, and a potential concept design on how the enhanced version of this screen could look like, with all features implemented.

    Hey there, @Partydoos#283067 πŸ‘‹

That's actually a fantastic idea, and really kudos for the changing the UI on the screenshot! Let's gauge the interest of other bunq users to see if they also appreciate it! πŸ™Œ

@Partydoos#283067 wow thats real dedication over there! And definitely a great idea. Hope they would introduce it soon

@Partydoos#283067 Would also be great to detect (un)intentionally created cloned/ clone sessions.

Now, I have one data point of rolling back an iOS device and the bunq app not being signed in. Which is good, but not sure if that’s because of some setting on my iOS device or bunq magic.
So, curious about experiences of other people.
If an iCloud (/phone) backup is restored to a same model phone in the same country, would I see two separate device listings on this devices screen because bunq a kind mechanism that can differentiate between authorised devices before and after a restore? (Or would I have two sessions belong to hone listing?)

If bunq cannot detect a clone and enforce reauthorisation (including the face check) and treats the restored as the original authorised device, a listing of unique sessions would be welcome and could empower the proposed design further.

Also device os upgrades sometimes create echo listings on these kind op pages, being able to differentiate them will help me keep my account safe, so perhaps some additional information can be shared as OS version or app version. (Unfortunately I do not know what is and is not applicable to the bunq app because it not clear how it should work in these cases; feel free to shed light on it.)

To answer "If an iCloud (/phone) backup is restored to....ng to hone listing?)" - my (Android) phone has a feature called "Dual Apps' allowing you to install the same app twice on a phone. Which thus means, same model in the same country and physically the same device. It still asks me to sign in again (as it should!) and it indeed is in the device list twice.

I like the idea you gave - what I'm afraid for however is that the only way to achieve this is by comparing the IMEI's of currently signed in devices (see if it matches, if so, sign in). This is, as far as I'm aware, the only 'unique identifier' that could be used in such a scenario. Problem is, there are ways to spoof an IMEI (it requires expertise, but still doable) which means this would be a security risk.

Happy to be proven wrong through but pretty sure that would be the only way, which isn't secure.
