@Tom#41773 Could you have a look at the original post, which contains a really different question :)

    @TwitNour#41554 Hey Nour! ๐Ÿ‘‹

    On the original question, itโ€™s currently not possible to convert an existing account into a savings goal.

    I know that makes setting them up a bit of work for anyone who was already using multiple accounts like this, so Iโ€™ll explain the reasoning.

    We built Savings Goals with the future in mind, and we knew that everyone would have a lot of great ideas about how we can improve them. ๐Ÿ’ก

    So we built it as a clean slate, to make it as flexible as possible. That makes it much more possible to turn the great suggestions into reality. ๐ŸŒˆ

    Cheers,
    Tom

      @Tom#41959 Thanks for the clarification, Tom!

        I already use 25 IBANโ€™s, so i canโ€™t use the feature without closing an account and wait a month? ๐Ÿ˜

          @TwitNour#41554 Hi Nour! Always good to hear form you.

          High Five ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ for the ability to use any of your current accounts to act as a Savings Account! And even better if I could share such account so I can save up for something together with friends of family!

          Have a great evening ๐ŸŒˆ ๐Ÿ‘

            @CJ#41975 Hi CJ! No need to wait a month ๐Ÿ™‚ You can simply choose an account you don't need anymore, close it and reach out to our amazing Support!
            They will ensure that the closure is sped up, so you can start saving towards your goal! ๐Ÿ’ฐ

                @Tom#41959 Hi Tom, what happens with IBAN numbers when I delete accounts (to create saving goals or vise versa) and someone sends me money to that old IBAN (which I used in the past to transfer money to others) ?

                  @Mervyn-Grey-Tiger#61040 If the old IBAN is no longer available the money will be sent back to the sender.

                    Would the IBAN be automatically be re-usedand appointed to somebody else ?
                    Is there a scarcity like with IP(4) addresses ?

                      @Mervyn-Grey-Tiger#61102 Maybe one day it will be re-used, but I don't see that happening now actually.

                        I would love to have this feature, especially since there doesnโ€™t seem much more to it than slapping a goal onto an account. This way I wouldnโ€™t need to waste an IBAN just for an account conversion.

                          3 months later

                          This really needs to be built, it doesn't make sense not to! Even if there is a huge difference in the way these account types work, there should be a simple process converting one to the other while keeping the same IBAN, keeping the same scheduled payments, and so on.

                          I have two 'buffer' accounts that I use for distributing income across accounts, so that 'there is always money in the bank for important payments'. One is a normal account, the other a savings account. Both work exactly the same, but I prefer the % in my dashboard so I'd like them both to be a savings account. This just shows me the status of my buffer, as 100% means I'm good to go for a month. (But I might change my preference later...) I don't want to change the IBAN everywhere everytime I switch, including in my own list of scheduled monthly distribution-payments.

                            @RalphXD#128002 Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ Ralph,

                            Itโ€™s not that simple as it sounds, because a Saving Goal ๐Ÿฅ… is an official joint account. So legally it is a different type of account. That makes a conversation difficult, not technically but legal wise.

                            But who know, would be cool.

                              @JohnDo#128005 Well thereโ€˜s a joint saving goal and a regular saving goal. Of course with any type of account you canโ€˜t change the ownership structure afterwards, thatโ€˜s ok. But switching between the saving and regular type of the same account type (regular vs. joint) would be nice.

                              Hope I was able to explain what I mean with that ๐Ÿ˜…

                                @Jakob#128006 Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ Jakob, you have a fair point! So High Five ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ on that.

                                  @MitchellvB995#140854 I guess not...! And since the Saving Goals feature hasn't been touched for a long time I wonder if it will ever come... But who knows in the feature, or in the coming update #13...?
