Hey bunqers! 🌈
We’re happy to announce that from now you can have your own Irish IBAN! The Irish IBAN is available for all bunqers residing in Ireland (and not only). Enjoy the full local Irish experience 🇮🇪
And what exactly is an Irish IBAN?
bunq is a European bank based in the Netherlands, meaning that your IBANs are Dutch. You can recognize this when you see the NL in your IBANs. If you’re a bunqer-to-be, all your IBANs since the opening of your bunq account will have Irish IBANs - provided you’re an Irish resident. 🚀
This is our newest milestone that we’re more than happy to share with you! It lets you bank like a local wherever you go, anywhere you are.

But I have Dutch IBANs and now I want an Irish one, what do I do?
You’ll be able to get your Irish IBAN even if you had Dutch IBANs before that. Just keep in mind that if you choose to go for an Irish IBAN, all your new Bank Accounts will receive Irish IBANs automatically. And your Dutch IBANs? You’re free to keep and use them as usual!
What if I'm not an Irish resident but I still want an Irish IBAN?
No need to worry - Foreign IBANs are the perfect fit for your international lifestyle. Easily add and use IBANs from multiple European countries - all in your bunq app. bunq Pro and bunq Elite Personal + Business users can start exploring this feature. You can learn more about this here 🌍
