My biggest gripe so far with BUNQ is the address book (contacts).
Dutch banks like ABN-AMRO, ING and others all have an address book with the following items:
- Nickname (example: Tax Office - Car / Tax Office - Private - / Tax office - income, etc)
- Real name (example: Belastingdienst)
- IBAN (the same IBAN for all above nicknames)
- Payment reference (fills in the payment reference field, a different reference per nickname, for example 0000-1111-2222-33333 or XXXX-XXXX-XXXX kraken.com)
With the Nickname and payment reference field, it is possible to have multiple items with the same IBAN, but when you select the correct nickname, the reference field is also filled in correctly. This is useful for paying several sorts of taxes to the same tax office, as it automatically enters the reference field (which is different for each tax in my above example) and the tax office knows if I'm paying car tax, income tax, etc.
Many other services require a fixed reference field to route payments correctly. Crypto Exchanges and Credit Card companies. Crypto deposits require a reference (and sometimes use an intermediary payment service, so the name is not clear, example: Kraken.com uses a bank called Clear Junction).
I hink it can be done with monthly recurring payments. However, I donโt want to setup a monthly recurring payment to get this right, I simply want to be able to select an address book item, add the right amount, and press send, knowing the reference field is filled in 100% correctly.
As ABN-AMRO, ING and others have this basic functionality (Paying is one of the main functions of a bank account...), Iโm surprised - not in a good way - that BUNQ does not have this sorted. For the amount we're paying, You'd think BUNQ would have nailed this basic functionality. Come on BUNQ!
