  • Show card decline with useful message when country is not whitelisted

I have only Netherlands enabled as whitelisted country for my Bunq account preferences. I was traveling inside France for some days and when I tried use my Bunq card throughput my trip, it always showed "invalid pin" on the machine and "payment declined" in the Bunq app. I only realized after my trip that France was not in the whitelisted country. Checking the spending country's location with my whitelisted countries, only if the Bunq app payment declined message could show me that I am trying to use the card in a country which is not whitelisted in my settings, I would have been able to use my Bunq card when I was out of Netherlands. What a shame I could not use my card during my holiday trip and after every "invalid pin" message I continued to change my card's pin in the app. So due to the lack of visibility on the actual cause of the decline, I was unable to fix the problem myself and use the card at all.

    @Sanjary-Cyan-Eagle#228235 Every transaction should have a text with the exact cause for the decline. And that should also be included in the push message that you get when the payment fails. It looks like this here (I didn't have The Netherlands enabled, oops):

      @Jakob-Y#228255

      Unfortunately that was not the case for me.

        FWIW, it was NOT a contactless payment.

          @Sanjary-Cyan-Eagle#228257 I see, maybe there is something about most French card terminals that makes this message show up instead. I would probably tell this to Support so that the devs can look into this and improve it if possible.
