In the Green Card FAQ here you mention this:
When does my 12 months period as a Green Card member start?
Since the physical cards will be delivered in the beginning of 2020, your 12 months will start from the moment your physical card reaches your house.
So I think most people who pre-ordered a Green Card knew already, that the 12 months period will start with the delivery of the card, and not with the date you pre-ordered.
After the pre-order you showed "February 17th" as the expected delivery date, but there was a little delay and so on February 17th you sent an email with a new expected delivery date and you mentioned this in that email:
To show our appreciation for your excitement, we’ve added 2 extra months to your Green Card subscription for free.
So for me this sound like I get +2 extra free months to my 12 months because of the delay and not like a reminder email, reminding me that it was already possible to use the card for 2 months for free. And I feel like I'm not alone with that.
The email didn't mention, that this was for the past 2 months.
