Why do we need extra info to verify your account? Long story short... It's required by law.
At bunq, the safety and security of you and your money is our top priority. In order to make sure that we 100% do that, we follow the proper and relevant regulatory procedures and maintain high security standards via our 5-minute verification process.
As a fully licensed bank, we are legally obligated to take different measures to mitigate various risks as well as confirm that your information is always up to date.
How should I know if I need to provide additional information?
If more information is needed, you will receive a notification where you can provide the necessary information directly from the app so you can continue to save time and complete this process immediately 📲
When providing additional information, please make sure to also provide the website of your company or a social media account if you have one!
After that, you’re all done and up to date. Quick and simple ✨
How does the process work?
As a bank we are required to understand how you use your bunq account. For this, we might have to ask you a few questions to help us create a safer bank environment around your account and follow certain regulations. We will inform you via push notifications and e-mail if you ever need to provide information about the usage of your account.

Will this terminate my account at bunq?
bunq doesn't terminate an account without further explanation. Account termination is something we don't take lightly. Only if regulations aren’t followed, we may have to move to deactivate your account. ☝
What is the process or how do you submit the information?
- Open the latest version of the bunq app
- Tap on the 👤 Profile tab
- Tap on “XX Events awaiting”
- Tap on the Event How do you use bunq

Can I send documents in advance to ensure my payment succeeds?
Our system is fully automated, which means we're unable to predict which transactions might need additional checks. That's why we don't request or expect you to provide supporting documents before a transaction is actually created.Rest assured, if we need any further details for your transaction(s), we'll reach you out through the Support Center. You'll also receive a notification in the Awaiting Events section in your 👤 Profile tab.
